Have Love, Will Travel

Dave and I have been talking nonstop about our future travels and adventures. We are trying to keep our minds set on saving money but it has been harder than expected. Here is the breakdown:

Our Lease is up in June/July.

We just want to go.

We don’t need a visa right away in parts of South America.

We could go to New Zealand for $500 + airfare.

We could teach in Asia and save oodles of money.

We could travel the coast and hike the Pacific Crest.

These are just a few of the many options we are discussing. We just wat to move on and live our lives. Why is the majority of America consumed by work? Why is it “wrong” to just live day to day? Dave has been accused of being lazy because he want so t quit his job. I have been lectured when I talk about quitting my job and traveling. Why is WORK in the front of everyone’s mind?

When did commerce and consumerism start to rule our lives? What happened to bartering and working off the land? What happened to sharing and living your life to the fullest rather than in a cold, windowless concrete block?

Uhgg. Ehhh. Blah.

July will be a new beginning for us. If we can save enough money for airfare and food, I think we will travel up the western coast to Washington and then head to Latin or South America to live and work . It is refreshing to think I might have to work to live rather than live to work because when that happens, i will really be living.
